We used The Glass House to cater a special event at the Gerald R. Ford Presidential Library. They were able to provide a variety of tasty dishes for a strolling dinner that was very well received by our guests. The food was beautifully displayed and the service, including bar service, was attentive and courteous. I would definitely hire the Glass House again if we were doing another event in Ann Arbor.

I am here way too often - especially considering that the service is so, so slow!! Oh my god, once my friend waited half an hour for her order to come out. The coffee is pretty good though, and the sandwiches way better than expected.

Glass House is close to my work so I love that!!! However sometimes the service is very slow!! The food however is always fresh and very tasty, they have a pretty good selection as well. I like that they shop local for their ingredients!!

Admit it, the food there is very expensive. However, you don't have many choice since you are stuck at SPH. Well, here are some stuff that I remember about this place.. Good stuff: 1) They have healthy and unhealthy stuff depends on your needs. You can definitely go for a sandwich with those overly-salty chips, or go for the salad/yogurt 2) The coffee there is pretty decent, I will give you that (I was a Barista before~) 3) It's convenient 4) The salad that I got there was really fresh 5) Their breakfast bagel was probably the cheapest hot food there that I enjoy :) 6) They update their menu every now and then, and I think they change their soup everyday(?) Bad stuff: 1) Pricy.. and I really can't think of anything else~ ha~! There's a cafeteria at medical center(?) and if you have the dining credit on your m card, you can go to the undergrad dining center that's like across the street from SPH II. The dining center is like an all-you-can-eat place though...

I eat lunch at the Glass House every other week or so. I like the food. The fish tacos are great as is the artisan salad. The service is just like everyone else has stated, slow. The staff is quick to respond to you once you arrive but the service gets slower and slower the longer you stay. One other reason I like the Glass House is its convenience and quick atmosphere. I can have a professional conversation and not have to yell over music or other patrons. I appreciate that quality.

Only been for breakfast. Good hash browns. They have pretty slow service though.

I've eaten here twice now when my department took a group of us out to lunch. I enjoyed it both times. Great food with average serving-sizes, great tea with above-average serving-sizes, calm atmosphere, cool tables (feel the underside! ripply!), and convenient location. Is this somewhere I would bring visitors or loved ones? Probably not. It's just too.. straight-forward. But if you're on campus and looking for a good meal, say, something more than a sandwich, Glass House is a nice venue.

Waitress was friendly but the service was slow. The food leaves much to be desired. Won't come back.

I'm sorry to say that I'm not too impressed with the grub at the Glass House. The service was slower than molasses in the wintertime. I was here for a work lunch and we kept checking our watches and craning our necks. Somehow other establishments, on and off campus, manage to conjure up much tastier morsels using the same array of local ingredients. Why wouldn't I just walk to those places? Oh wait, I do.

My office is a short walk to the Glass House, so I've been here about a half-dozen times (take out and sit down). The last two times I went was because a coworker was buying, and because I got a $10 gift certificate from the boss. The food is good, but the problem is there are a dozen other places within the same walking distance that are much better, and a better value. Do I pay $6 for an awesome Griffin from Beanster's across the street, or $6+ for an awkward-tasting Turkey wrap? I ordered the burger to-go one day; it took me five minutes to get back to my desk, and three seconds to realize my horrible mistake. The preparation was....not their strong suit. The container was airy, so the burger was dry and cold. Stingy on the condiments, and the fries were worse. The interior is pleasant, there's a great view from most seats. The staff is very nice, very friendly. But I found that their kitchen closes at 2:00pm; I don't know if that's a regular occurrence or just something that's specific to the take out counter. Overall, I won't be back, there's just too many choices on Central Campus that cost less or have better food.

Overpriced for so-so food.

For lunch: I ate here on a job interview, and was impressed. Tasty soup (tomato basil? Or something with roasted red pepper? Something warm, robust, and flavorful), yummy sandwich (Italian--salamis, etc. with tasty dressing), and my interviewer's pasta dish looked good as well. It's also pretty elegant and bright and lovely....a refreshing haven in the middle of the campus. For catering: They're wonderful! Alissa is fantastic--so professional and accommodating. The food was tasty, and the staff (who mostly seemed to be students) were polite, friendly, timely, etc. They take shortcodes, which is handy if you're working with the U, and are easy to communicate with via email (at least, they were tolerant and accommodating of my preference for that medium). Highly recommended for your next wine & cheese reception!

Great location that sits between the medical campus and central campus. Very modern and new, only came into full service after I had graduated. You have these dry-erase tables that are great for collaboration over lunchtime, really bringing the definition of "power lunch" into a whole new realm.

I go to the Glass House quite often, mainly due to its convenience because the building I work in is literally right next door. If it weren't for the fact that it only takes me about a minute to get there, I would probably never go. Here's why:' 1) I'm convinced that the Glass House is only in business because it's associated with the University and because its convenient for people. When I am working and only have about 10 minutes to grab something to eat, I begrudgingly go to the Glass House to grab something from their takeout counter. Everything is seriously overpriced at the counter! I remember when they used to have an assortment of baked goods that were somewhat affordable (i.e. 1$ donuts, cinnamon rolls). However, this has changed since they have switched all of the baked goods they sell to Zingerman's products. This is completely ridiculous! I love Zingerman's products, but I can only afford these once in a blue moon. I used to come here to get a donut in the morning before starting work, but now I can't even afford to get a pastry here. FYI Glass House, most students can't afford Zingerman's often, so what makes you think they would be willing to start buying their pastries? 2) Another thing I dislike about the Glass House is their inconsistency. I've ordered their rosemary parmesan fries and its really strange how inconsistent they are about things. Some days, they give me an extremely generous serving of fries that fill a whole takeout box. Other days, they give me like 10 fries that they could probably just throw in a plastic bag instead of wasting a whole takeout box. I made a comment about this once, and they gave me a dirty look. 3) The "restaurant" part of it is mediocre, at best. I've eaten there a couple of times, only because it was due to work-related outings and we didn't really have a choice since we weren't paying the tab. I've ordered the fettucini (once again, average at best... not much better than you would get at a generic Olive Garden), and the pulled-pork sandwich (I'll give this one an okay...). The thing that bothers me is that it takes freaking FOREVER and a day to get through a meal. The food takes forever to come out, and if you want your check on time, you might as well ask for it when your entree comes out. The service is slow and unattentive, and nothing to rave about. 4) They always seem to be out of things. I remember one day I came running in for a quick lunch (and mind you, I came at around 1230), intending to get something to eat since I didn't have that much time on my hands. I asked for a baked potato (they had them for a short time), which apparently I was told that they were "out" and wouldn't get them until Thursday (I came in on a MONDAY). So then I asked for a beef hotdog and found out that they were out of those as well. There isn't much else on the lunch menu that is affordable (unless you want to end up paying 10$ and up), so I looked for my favorite bag of chips (dill pickle!). I didn't see them, and found out... and to no surprise, they were out of them... WOW. I gave up by then, and went back to work (by then my 10 minutes were up). I went hungry that day... 5) The staff is super rude. The girls that work the counter always seem to have a chip on their shoulders and are super snarky when you take more than a couple of seconds to decide what you want to have. I'm not sure what it is, but maybe they think they're elite because they work at one of the more expensive places to eat on campus. Whoo-hoo for them. So yes, I despise the Glass House with a passion. The people are rude, the service is atrocious, the food is meh at best, and the entire place is overpriced! Do not go here if you have a choice, but if you're desperate for food like me some days, the Glass House may be the only choice if you only have 10 minutes to get some food.
